TuxGuitar is a free program for recording scores and editing tablatures. It also allows you to work with MIDI. The program is developed in the Java programming language and published under the LGPL license.

The program is endowed with ample opportunities for editing audio tracks. Notes can be edited directly on the working area of the program (in fingering or tablature versions) and on auxiliary Windows (guitar fretboard, keyboard or matrix editor). With the application, you can transfer to tablature any work recorded in notes. The duration of notes, the effects of its sound, Reprise, pace, size, dynamic shades-all edited in a couple of clicks.

In addition to notes, text notes and song lyrics can be added to the track. There is a label system that allows you to bookmark and quickly move to the desired part of the song. Labels can be marked with different colors. Working with tracks is also quite convenient. There is a possibility to change the color for each track on the common chart, building, tool and other. The only inconvenience that can be felt by people who have previously worked with Guitar Pro, is to combine the sound settings tracks in a single mixing console and take it out in a separate window. This, in my opinion, is not very convenient, as you have to perform more actions, for example, to mute or solo the desired track.

The track can be played with and without a metronome. There is an additional training mode, which gradually accelerates the track according to the specified settings.
